Contest Report

There competed totally 30 teams from 20 different educational institutions in the Southwestern European Regional Programming Contest. They came from Czech Republic (2), France (1), Germany (12), Italy (8), Portugal (2), Spain (2) and Switzerland (3).

The Contest was held on the 16th of November 1996 at ETH Zürich from 09.06 till 14.06.

Three teams used Pascal, seven team used C++, and 20 teams programmed in C. None of the teams used more than one single language for all of their submissions (although this would have been allowed).

The team from University of Ulm 1 (Germany) with team members Mark Dettinger, Gerhard Lutz, Falk Bartels and Thorsten Quell; and the team from Czech Technical University Prague 2 with team members Jan Kybic, Tomas Kopal, Petr Salinger and Milan Simanek will advance to the Contest Finals due to the fact that teams qualifying for the finals must represent different educational institutions.
