Venue

Contest venue

SWERC 2024 will be hosted in the Department of Computer Science of University of Pisa.

The campus is located at this address: Largo Bruno Pontecorvo, 3, 56127 Pisa PI.

We suggest looking for hotels near the campus, so that you can move from there to the contest venue on foot.

Reaching the contest venue

If you are in the city centre, it may be faster to reach the contest venue on foot. If you arrive at the Pisa Centrale train station, you can take a bus from there. You may want to buy the standard 1.70€ ticket, although buying it directly on the bus will entail a surcharge. You can also buy tickets directly on the at bus app. (android app, iphone app, huawei app)

For navigation, Google Maps will generally be accurate enough. There's also Moovit, a popular alternative that is sometimes preferrable when it comes to public transport in Italy. (android app, iphone app, webapp)

Here is a map of public transportation in Pisa.

Reaching Pisa via train

If you're coming by train, you will arrive at Pisa Centrale, from this train station you can access the buses. Bus Line 4 will take you directly to the university, while taking lines 2 and 3+ will require an additional 7 minutes walk.

Reaching Pisa via plane

If you're coming by plane, you will land at one of these two airports:

  • Pisa Airport - Galileo Galilei (PSA) – This is the closest airport to the city. You just need to buy a standard 1.70€ ticket and get on Bus Line 5, whose stop is only a 5-minute-walk from the airport, from the S. Agostino 1 stop. The other option to get to the center is the Pisamover: a shuttle service priced at 6.50€ per ride. https://pisa-mover.com/en/shuttle-service/
  • Florence Airport - Amerigo Vespucci (FLR) – This airport is about a one-hour-drive away from the city center. You can go from the airport to the Firenze Santa Maria Novella train station by taking the tramway line T2 (1.70€ ticket). From here, get on a regional train to Pisa Centrale train station (9.30€ ticket).
